Overview
The project objective was to develop an online shop with a link to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Customers should furthermore be enabled to transfer products, like routers, switches, etc. into the SAP Enterprise Buyer via an OCI interface. The project was initially realised for a renowned key account of Controlware GmbH. Plans to connect more customers were considered accordingly during the project design.
The solution in detail
The integrated eCommerce solution by silver.solutions was implemented for this project. The connection to Microsoft Dynamics NAV enables a.o. current deliverability information, individual pricing as well as a direct order transfer to the ERP.
Accessing the online shop requires a prior login. Users and user groups are managed in the shop’s backend. After having logged-in successfully, the users can view the dedicated catalogue for their company.
As a special shop feature, the shopping carts can be exported. A filled shopping cart can be exported and re-imported for a subsequent order, which is extremely important for customers where only selected staff is authorised to trigger orders. Employees in the specialist departments can fill and save a shopping cart, while the actual order is placed by authorised staff in the purchase department. The shopping cart is transferred directly into the SAP system in this context.
The connection of Controlware customer’s SAP system to the B2B shop was a key aspect of this project. Instead of placing a regular order via the browser, the customer selects its catalogue through SAP Enterprise Professional Buyer and is redirected to the Controlware shop immediately. The process is secured via Single-Sign-On. The customer can now browse the shop, select products, place the latter in the shopping cart and subsequently send the shopping cart to SAP directly. SAP subsequently sends an order in iDoc format, which is handed over from the online shop to Controlware’s Navision system. The online shop supports the buying process through additional dedicated functions, like e.g. a quick order form.
The result
A complex B2B shop, which, in particular perfectly meets the requirement for a connection of the SAP Enterprise Buyer to Controlware’s Navision ERP system, was implemented in no more than three months. The supported OCF standard enabled integrating SAP in no time.
