DT-DIESEL TECHNIC AG modernises its online shop with Dynamics NAV integration

Overview

The project goal was the replacement of an existing shop system, the conversion of the software to the Ibexa platform and the connection to the ERP system with a focus on system stability as well as the expandability of the system. The multilingualism and the connection of multiple Navision systems at distributed sites (e.g. Kirchdorf, Spain, Dubai) presented a special challenge in this context.

The solution in detail

silver.solutions has implemented the online shop by Ibexa and - in close cooperation with the Microsoft Dynamics partner tso data - connected the customer’s MS Dynamics NAV systems to the shop using the proven B2B-Connector. The customer number determines which Navision is approached by the online shop in this case, enabling e.g. a German customer to view the Spanish product catalogue, while retrieving the relevant information from the German NAV system.

The use of the so-called DT product information system for traders and registered users requires a log-in and manual verification by Diesel Technic. After a successful verification, the user is provided with the respective access information.

The product information for the online shop is imported regularly from the product information system. In addition, the information system delivers the most current products to the Diesel Technic web portal for publishing, using RSS feeds.

All the key shop functionalities are managed by the ERP software. Customer-specific product prices e.g. are acquired from the ERP in runtime. Navision performs the pricing of the shopping cart under consideration of the individual conditions and currencies. The shop is accessible even when the ERP connection is interrupted. In this case, however, no prices are displayed, while orders can still be transmitted. These orders are deposited in a buffer storage and transmitted manually or automatically later.

Arrears are displayed per order in real time. DMS Dynamics NAV directly controls the highly adjustable access rights for individual shop users. Catalogue orders can be placed through a quick-order form, which enables the import of up to 999 items from a single file (e.g. *.CSV).

silver.solutions has developed an individual search function with an extension of the Ibexa platform for a fast and targeted retrieval in the catalogue with some 20,000 individual items.

The website and the shop are currently available in eight languages, including Russian.

The result

The new solution has replaced previous installations and servers with a powerful complete solution. The new online shop now offers customers a robust ordering platform and also presents Diesel Technic as a reliable partner on the Internet. The use of open standards ensures the system’s upgradability.
